Purpose of Grant

This grant will be used to assist in the curating of the Russel Wright dinnerware exhibit at the San Francisco Airport museum, creating a book/catalog and website. Funding will be required for the following areas.

 

∑ Finance the research required to review the Russel Wright files at Syracuse University to address scores of unanswered questions regarding, but not limited to:

 

  • Undocumented dinnerware line designs
  • Conflicting information of date stamps, product life spans, etc.  
  • Gathering of materials for:
Finance the research and sourcing of pieces from collections of selected museums in the US.

 

 

Finance the research and sourcing of pieces from private collections in the US.

 

Finance the research for the conservation of the Russel Wright archives in Syracuse which are in immediate need of restoration.

 

Develop and implement a brief community awareness program to introduce the history of Russel Wright designs and their relevance to post-WWII lifestyle changes that have made numerous positive contributions unknown by today’s baby boomer and post-baby boomer generation.

 

Develop feasibility study and plan to photograph the exhibit and make it available to non-airport travelers to view since the exhibit is installed in a terminal for ticketed passengers only. These images can viewed via a web connection, “podcast” or other medium.
